Book Clubs @ Restoried Bookshop

We love books. We love talking with friends and neighbors. We love talking about books with friends and neighbors.

So naturally, we are excited to host book clubs!

Here’s a little about our current book clubs and book clubs that gather in our space (dates and deets on our events calendar):

  • *NEW* Asian American 101 Book Club – Did you finish school before Illinois’ TEAACH Act took effect? Are you looking for an ungraded, community-centered experience of learning and discussing Asian American History? This is the book club for you! We have an incredible facilitator, OiYan, leading us on this year-long journey. Be sure to join us on the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm here at the bookshop.
  • Final Fridays* Book Club – The community votes on a ranked-choice ballot to determine what we’re reading for the coming month, then we get together on the final Friday of the month to talk about what we’ve read! Snacks are provided (but also feel free to bring some). Outside, non-alcoholic beverages are welcome. Hot takes and thoroughly marinated takeaways are equally encouraged. *We’ll be surveying for a new date for this book club to gather.
  • Second Saturdays Silent Reading Club – This is one for everyone with the lowest level of commitment. Show up with whatever you’re reading (or come through early so we can help you find the right one!), your favorite non-alcoholic bev, and yourself (or bring a friend- we’re not going to say no). We’ll put on some lo-fi and curate a chill atmosphere for us to all read together for 45 minutes, at least. After that, say hi to a neighbor and talk about what you’ve been reading- or finish the chapter.

We are also always glad to host book clubs that we aren’t leading. All we ask is that members purchase their books through us at the shop and we can coordinate space at the shop for y’all to gather, so if you’ve got a book club that needs a space- drop in or reach out and let’s see what we can make happen!
