Buttons of the Puerto Rican Left

March 5 @ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Miguel’s story, and his campaign for the Illinois State House, have deep roots not just in community organizing on Chicago’s Northwest Side, but also in the rich history of socialist and left-wing politics in Puerto Rico and among the diaspora.

On Thursday, March 5th, from 6-8 pm CT, you’re invited to join candidate Miguel Alvelo Rivera and Buttons of the Left curator, Isaac Silver, for an interactive discussion of struggles for justice by Puerto Ricans featuring rare and unique buttons from historic organizations and movements.

This is a fundraising event for Miguel’s people-powered campaign with a suggested registration of $15 (in-person) or $5 (virtual) and additional solidarity tiers for those able to contribute more. Zoom link will be sent upon registration for the event. Don’t miss it!
